I had to take a break for a while over two days as the bike clapsed through metal fatigue in the spokes, and I had to get it repaired near Bordeaux, so it was aprox 100 miles a day.
At the end I had a civic meeting with the then Mayor of Biarritz.
On the trip I spent time in vinyards drinking wine and brandy with the locals till the early hours of the morning. I nearly got knocked of my bike by some British car driver his caravan came that close that I had to hit the side of it to stay up right.
I did it as a fund raiser to try and motivate the town I came from to raise funds for a swimming pool.
It was a tremendus sence of achivement which knocked me out for the rest of the winter, as I did it in October 1989 or there abouts.
I had to wait in Paris for 24 hours for the bike to catch me up on the train which was also an eye opener, knowing Paris you will know what I means.
The Gardindord station was closed at night so people where thrown out on the streets , we where all lined up in card board boxes trying to get some sleep when a car pulled up with a guy waving a gun around at one of the guys lying quite close to me. Another car pulled up where an argument broke out and the guy with the gun was dragged in to the car and driven away.
Goodness knows what that was about, poosibly a drug deal that went wrong or something like thsat.

I now realise why I dont post on this site anymore...

Chris, get a blog... www.blogger.com or like wise. Your posts are becoming more personal story rather than critical discussion. Sometimes you have to move out and express your own ideas in your own way on your own site. A blog would be an excellent idea, I can help set one up for you if you dont know how to do it.

It would mean you are reaching a wider audience, have creative control of what the site and your direction should be.

Does anyone else think this a good idea? No snide comments.

Nice to have some sensible feedback Maikerue, as you have poosibly noticed the nature of some of the people in this forum leads you in to needing to explain your self, which then leads in to a more personel story line.
I do not live on line, I just use two chatrooms that I thought where relevent to what I do, and to be honest I have never come across a group of people that show so much ignorence and lack of respect to the thoughts of others.
As mentioned a long time ago if I lived in London and was in a possition of emloying people, the last people on earth I would want to hire would be some of the people who come in here and just use it as a verbal battle ground, they make them selves look realy good, there is an old saying that goes, give a person enough rope and they will hang them selves, some of the people in here do it constantly.
If you are intersted in giving me details on the blog maby you can email me.
Thanks and all the best Maikerue

Thick skinned, knowing where I am in the world, knowing where I am going, knowing my own limitations, as well as being in touch with world issues people and life, etc.. And trying to understand people who spend most of there time just pointlesly waisting valuble life time being aggressive towards others, maby some of you would make a good Prime Minister.
