Apologies: Kate Grannan.
I like the work of local photographer Davida Nemeroff, check her out at www.afikomen.ca

Thanks eucinpyos (so glad you're back! thought you might have been arrested - bill posting is illegal in lots of places you know), link very Arbus syle again - but less "distilled" than Katy Ganner?
And Sarah, what do you think of the controversy surrounding Sally Mann? I think it's totally unfair.

f:lux,
Thanks for the concern, thankfully I haven't had much trouble yet. As far as I'm concerned though, the work being put up doesn't fit into a bill or poster category as it does not advertise anything. It's a grey area in the law. I mean, I assume this, but I'll have to check the details for the by-laws to find out.
Davida is heavily inspired by Diane Arbus. So yeah, definately seen there.
I'm not familiar with Katy Ganner's work though.

F:lux,
Yes i think the "controversey" about some of her is unfair too. My opinion is, it's all extremely innocent, which can be taken the wrong way by tainted minds.

Or is it part of the mentality of a gun ho propagander machine from an over enthusiastic authoritarian reshime creating sensassionism for there own publicity. Which does a lot of emotional harm to creative people as well as possibly the models in question.
Ref, I am A Camera in London at the Satchey exhibition as well as the on going controversy over the work of Robert Maplethorp, Where a head of a university was traumertised for a year with the threat of going to prison for having a book of Maplethorps on the Universuty library shell, after one of his student re produced pictures from the book, in all cases these people are traumertised untill the authorites rerslise that it is turning in to egg on there face rather than possitive propagander for there popularity cause, then they back down to save grace, quietly with out even apologising I am wondering if this is what is presently holding back creativity in magazines at the moment, As a photographer I find that I am holding my self back before taking a picture, which is definatly effecting my creative expression. We are in a world with the new technology where self expression and recording of visual information is revalutionising life and culture at a speed in human history that has never been seen before, I am wondering if an authirity that appears to be out of tuch is possibly being over enthusiastic, yet again. history will tell
