Now THIS is a topic that I have been waiting for...Terry T-Bone Richardson. Porn as Fashion/Fashion as Porn. It is great that he has capitalised on this trend but I really don't see how his more graphic work can be called fashion photography. The fashion industry has always wanted to push boundaries and challenge what the mainstream would call good taste, Helmut Newton and Guy Bourdin being good examples of this - but their work, even then, could only be classified as erotica. The bulk of Terry's work is Porn - pure and simple - and I think that the fashion industry only uses him because it is the most obvious boundary to push - the same applies to Richard Kern. I have seen a lot of Terry's more restrained fashion photography and it is really good - he easily adapts to either porn or straight fashion. I think that Terry's work is great, and I hope he makes a packet out of fashion while this amalgamation of porn with couture lasts - but I don't think that this trend will add anything of value to the history of fashion photography.
And Dude...Put it away - I'm trying to eat.
