I like his southern white trash mullet pictures, quite fierce. Can't say that stripped vulgarity does it for me on an artistic level.
Sorry it was me being ignorant, Terrys World is interesting but not creative, it is a sleazy extention of the style of teller amongst others. Terry pushes the boundaries of taste but also shows the sleazy side of life warts and all. As a documentary of life and lifestyle it is an important record with a lot of photographic humer, is that how he has managed to push the bundaries of porno and fashion photography, it would be interesting to know how he got established, as he seens to have defied the ods, I guess that he is also pushing the narrow margins between fashion image making and prnography, which over the last few years seems to have got mixed together, Did Jurgen Teller and Wolfgang go in this direction first, in a less blatent way. When I first saw his book I wonderd how he got away with using so much blatent porn in his image making and indeed how he got the good looking people to posse for him in such a way, after all he looks more like the typical sleaze, I do not mean that in a bad way

I'm based in Germany (though of British descent). I'm not limited to one line of work, at the moment i have a digital photography exhibition going, which is part of the triennial of photography in this city. I started out with a degree related to graphic design, did a short stint at artschool, got a foundation degree in fashion design and my bachelors in textile design and working in illustration (mainly scientific, but will also move back towards my fashion/textile roots).
On Juergen Teller, ''Did Jurgen Teller and Wolfgang go in this direction first, in a less blatent way''. I do think they (or atleast Teller, i don't know Wolfgangs work that well, though i've probably seen a lot of his stuff without being aware), went into a similar direction, ''in a less blatent way''. I like a bit of sleaze, but if it's totally in your face, 24 hours a day, it gets a bit much. Perhaps that is what he's trying to convey ? Eventhough it seems, as far as i can gather, to be his ''eating, sleeping, drinking'' part of life. I'm not particularly fussed.
il m'arrive souvent de confondre les 2 (Teller & Richardson) mais aprés petite analyse, tu reconnais trés vite Terry!!
si tu vois une bite ou du sperme c'est Richardson!
hehehe

My favourite Terry Richardson images (or art?) are the work he has done with Whirlwind Heat and Sisley campaigns, which are both quite mild compared to his more "hardcore" images.
At first glance they seem pornographic, but i think there is beauty in this sometimes perverse reality which is seen. I think he exploits the camera.

Good to here about what Pony has been up to in germany, it would be great to be able to see some of his digital photograph. I thimk it is important to see life from every angle and that Terry Richardson has recorded his to the full, I still dont know how he got some of the models to allow him to photograph them in the way he has or is that becouse of his fame. As i have mentioned before, I stayed in Devon and Cornwall in order to develoe a style of working and put an identity in my work, geographicly and in fashion style down here the area is very creative and beautifull. Last wednesday I was invited to go for a sail on Thursday , the weather was hot and the sea was deep blue, the boat was a ten ton cutter from 1892, the only thing that was missing was the right models to be photohgraphed on board. You can not get that in London? or major Citys. Gping back to Terry Richardson, I have no problems with recording life from every angle, that is part of what image making is all about, including hard cor or mild porn but I would rather see it shot in a tastefull maner rather than one that I would degrade the model he is working with, it does say a lot about his lifestyle, lucky man I guess, but I would rather see a creative picture rather than this snappy type of image making, taken as though it is just a record of the moment.
