It's funny the issue of style associated with place, I'm english but moved to NY to shoot and stayed for 7 years, I moved back to london about a year ago and within about a month my style had changed quite dramatically towards a more"London" style without ever trying to change my style. Pictures are just a photographers way of saying something about the world around them and in London the world around you is very different from the world around you in New York so the resulting pictures should be quite different. At the top level where photographers travel very freely between the citys theres bound to be a loss of national identity in there styles as the world around them is a bit of new york and a bit of london or wherever and so is there resulting style. I guess this is a little bit sad as , pictures can be a baromiter of a place, just look at the american pop art movement. Being optomistic, the new style which you could call more homogonous is an honest reflection of the new world were living in. Neither good nor bad just the inevitable progress of mankind on our sure and steady path to destruction.

Interesting Andrew. I staye i the South West of England for this reason, so my style would have its own identity, getting away from the destructive elements. More recntly I have strated to stop hearing the news and reading the papers with the contsant bombardment of negative information. As mentioned in other chat arweas I think the people in control have got a lot to answer for in the breaking down of society at the moment. Any way I wont go any deaper on this ussue again as iI will possibly be a target for more sarcascm from others.
I hope all is going well for you Andrew and keep at it.

seb can you go into a bit more detail about what you consider to be the destructive elements that keep you in the south west of england??? persnally i would have thought being in london would be a productive elemnt for a photographer, not a negative one.

If it's not too off the subject, I'd love to hear what you think about my work too! I honestly want to hear your thoughts.

Hi. I hope this may of be some help. I am not sure regarding any reps who are taking photographers on but perhaps if you make a few appointments to see these people they may be able to offer you good advice and will also help you to build some new contacts. I also suggest that you make an appointment to see some of the fashion and features editors at some if the magazines in London who may ask you to shoot for them too ( ID, Tank, Dazed, Super Super, Wonderland, Qvest etc) By the way I think that style is style whatever city you are in. Talented, brilliant people tend to make it everywhere.
