Ive had a look at your website which is really hard to naviaget by the way. Its one of the most difficult websites ive seen to work and when you eventually see the images you lose them.
Of your work i saw, i would say to you that you work is quite good but i wouldnt advise trying to get an agent in london as your work isnt so much suited to the market here. not saying its not good, its just not very london. often a photographer is better off just working and developing a style without worrying all the time about getting an agent. we get sent hundreds of emails and have hundreds of calls a day from photographers but only really get back in touch with the ones whose style is original or 'very now'.

I don't want to say things such as "London" or "Paris" style, although I can safely say that there IS a definite difference between the images produced within different cities. Why? Culture maybe, climate, access to clothes. I find that's the hardest thing with shooting fashion in Toronto... getting access to good clothes from showrooms. It's either horribly expensive to ship, and that is of course if you're lucky enough to shoot for a highly regarded fashion mag in Toronto, which is nearly impossible as there are only a few and most, it's sad to say, aren't very "European" in the style they choose. Very commercial, less high fashion. Highrise is really the only risk taking magazine I can think of.

Anyway, all that boils down to A: I do believe there are distinct "styles" coming from various parts of the world and B: I do agree with ronny that your style doesn't quite fit the London market. Doesn't mean that it's shitty work, but realistically if you were to go to London and try to find work shooting the way you do, you won't find much of it.

I know this comes down as being sort of mean, but Toronto [for me] shows up heavily in your work. Doesn't mean that you are bad, just backs up my belief that it really is hard to develop a good book in Toronto. Trust me, I've tried.

I've had a look at Jasons work and I do see exactly what roony is saying. Each market is different ok, so if you look at say New York based photographers it looks New York - Paris and London the same. It goes back to that sebastian discussion I guess where he was wittering on about how he wouldn't leave plymouth, and would make it as a fashion photographer there - but looking at his work he'll only make it doing that kind of stuff in Plymouth.

Similar kettle of fish I guess, I agree with what Eucinpyos is saying too. I've always had London agents up until last year when I was happier on my own. The market in London is incredibly tough, if Jason thinks he can come over for a holiday, get an agent, and then have work coming in constantly then he's in a dream world. Thats the impression I get from "I'm in London May-June need agent". I would develop more of a style if that makes sense as it will make you more appealing to the market over in Europe Jason.

I have seen great photography coming out of South America in the past, great black and white pictures and a lot of risk and thought going in to the compasition of the work.
