I stand corrected, they were both released in the same year, so the film made money for Miramax though filming on 'Paris is Burning' started in '86 and my point related to later part of the film showing how things changed when Vogueing went uptown. And madonna wasn't the only one, there was that other bandwagon hopper Malcolm McClaren.

I can't remember whether it was Peppa LaBeija or the other older white queen from Paris is Burning, but apparently, according to a friend who lived close to this scene, after she died, they found all these dead bodies in her apartment! Proof that she really was FIIE-ARRCE.
Another piece of trivia. Ever seen Coming to America? Well, Akeem (eddie Murphy)'s love interest in it is played by Shari Headley who is also in Paris is Burning playing herself - a modelling representative at Barney's or wherever it is.
And another thing. Banjee boys still exist! When in NYC earlier this year, I went (with above friend) round some of his old haunts (before he got rich he worked in a drag bar) and we went round some of the sex shops and nasty places he used to go to and there were all these black boys in prada sport, getting their dicks out and pestering us with them. I was sitting in a cabin and this guy was shoving his tackle through the magic window. I was a little startled because they all looked so straight. Apparently half the rappers are bummin each other anyway. God, America is so progressive.
