There have been lots of entertainers with sunny disposition, but I guess the subject of this thread is to explore why some of the really talented and famous artists, entertainers, writers, singers, men or women, were more prone to the dark and moody side-no doubt they found comfort and inspiration for their creation in that deep end. For young people of the teens and 20's, the dark side is very attractive, they almost have to need to live it for a while, before they can appreciate the lightness of being.

... yes indeed... to EXPLORE !.... what a wonderful and very positive word ! .... as in .... ' to travel travel in or through (an unfamiliar country or area) in order to learn about or familiarize oneself with it ' .... that is the spirit !!! :):)
..... I know it has nothing to do with the subject .... but the word 'explore' reminded me of Jonathan Swift best well known work.... ' Gulliver's Travels ' partly a satire on human nature ... have you ever read it ? ...
....and guess who introduced the word ...' YAHOO ' ....
Ref .: www.library.usyd.edu.au/.../ modernity/swift.html .... Swift's satirical masterpiece Gulliver's Travels occupies an unusual place in English literature. Modelled on travel literature it provides a penetrating and at times hilarious analysis of early modern society and its follies and failings. Of particular interest is the critique of the new science in the Voyage to Laputa which plunders the writings of Robert Boyle and the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society. Of course, in the internet age we are constantly reminded of Swift who first introduced the term 'Yahoo' in this work.
PS : Just posting it out of pure good fun ! :):):)

beautiful loving the depth and exploration explored in this post,
but we must not for get the laonly road artist trend, our understanding is also our personal cross we have to carry,
which in most cases is built through strife, on the original post on the subject of women and love, the woman has gone through allot of change since the liberation of her spirit, i hope you get this, but its like a teenager who runs away from home, wants to go back but is too proud, the turmoil starts here
(at night they meet the fantasy of overwhelmed love as they meet their parents forgiving and loving arms)
yet they are too proud.
becoming there own enemy, to over come this paradox is a woman, but to suffer the suffering is an artist (drunk) because few can understand, so the cycle continues.
i love the direction the golden compass is pointing recently in this generation, its a wind that will soon demand much attention.

There were times when I found myself not feeling deep enough, and wonder if I wasn't feeling the love, and started to doubt, then purposely looking for difficulties in love, loving a man who didn't love me very much, and trying to change the situation, hoping, making myself fraile and emotionally drained. That's not too different than some of the entertainers went through in order to want to feel deeper, feel more. Some people don't need to feel so much, yet some others question when they don't feel so deeply, wonder if they are just wasting their lives. And to feel deeply, usually is to take a more dramatic road, to do more dramatic things. Ordinary everyday life can get mundane and too comfortable in its routines.

The hardest and one of the most interesting things to explore in life is love, what it is and to find love, be loved, and to love, lots of female entertainers destroyed themselves because they couldn't find the type of love they wanted, and of course this was true for men too, they might not have killed themselves the fast ways, but they still went through divorces, drinking, drugging, slow deaths....why women entertainers seem more exposed to this-maybe women are more brave when it comes to finding love, that's why they would allow themselves to be more vulnerable.

its interesting when you mention being vulnerable, i actually believe a huge part of a man falling in love is him opening himself to being vulnerable , or better still suer combing to vulnerability.
its hard for a man to completely let go in a womans lap, because of myths about masculinity, (when he would love his head rubbed and hair played with)
i think women in there long struggle need the same thing really,
but to surrender to another person is the hard part, so much ,muck and dirt in the water, and people's lives are full of (london) city stress, from all angles. especially in the creative industry of ego's
we all need comfort, trust, and to show each other our child, but physiology says its not as easy as that.
although i think it is.
