I have been juggling in my mind for sometime, against my own wisdom, with the subject.....it seems that with the state of affairs in our 'New Brave World ' we have lost the Art of Thinking...., the Media gracefully doing the thinking for us 'ordinary mortals ', as a viable instrument to achieve the goals of today's masters...., master (s) as in a scene of one of those random film versions of Frankenstein, when Frankenstein always responds to his creator...' Yes Master'...however crude it must sound :) ; but somehow I have come to the conclusion (right or wrong) that we in a way have lost the ART OF THINKING.....and with that....THE ART of QUESTIONING; questioning, an exciting, energising game of the mind that can unable us to keep the balance in a world of manipulated perceptions....
Anyhow, I was wondering how we ( powerless ordinary brave citizens ) could become the David to challenge the Goliath of today's society by promoting the harmless and peaceful .... ' ART of THINKING '.... Having been inspired by the SHOWstudio info on Frieze about ' The Shyest Person Alive ' by artist Janice Kerbel, I then decided to poise the imaginary add ( borrowing Kerbel's art concept ), everyone is welcome to make his/her own imaginary design on how the 'poster' should look like, this as an exercise in the matters of fantasy ....of wild and unpredictable creativity....

SOUGHT ... with great urgency the best idea on how to revive, stimulate, promote, the ART of THINKING to counteract the MODERN ART of MANIPULATION as in a world full of misguided perceptions in detriment of the freedom of choice to accept or reject what the masters of the day consider to be good or bad for us in the name of their concept of freedom as in... 'freedom' to purchase their ' ideals' "

REWARDS :

FOR HER an imaginary bottle of perfume made of the purest crystal, designed by his/her favourite artist/designer filled with the most heavenly fragrance made of the most exquisite , exotic and rear flowers of her choice grown in the Nile's valley... just as it has been the tradition in the exquisite and unique art of making dreamlike scents since the time of the ancient Egyptian civilization..

FOR HIM an imaginary gift of his choice made of the purest quality of gold which he is free to donate to the cause of his choice.......

...call it coincidence....call it the 'sixth sense'...but I just happened to receive this very interesting article...to me in a way... about the state of ' THE ART of THINKING ' as it is today.......enjoy it !

http://edition.cnn.com/WORLD/world.weekly/

a quote from the article :

' Yet he does see the value in having people working with power to effect change: "The classic model of social change is that you need people on the inside talking to people in power and people on the outside shaking up the establishment -- a combination of the two getting results. The good cop, bad cop routine seems to have worked in the past." '

Great picture and it would make an interesting Christmas card with messages, may be you can be the first to get one to the studio this year.
What you have said above is very interesting and we must remember that it is very often people with different ideas and views that create changes in the world around us, in art, literature, politics, and every day life.
Quite often those people are mocked by others because of there views and outlooks sometimes because of other people’s narrow ways of thinking, ignorance or lack of understanding to what is being said.
See what goes on in politics, a bit like the school bully syndrome, it is far easier to mock than try to come to an understanding, you only have to
See the way the trash papers are behaving at the moment in the UK.)

No matter how challenging they may be, who are the people that tend to leave marks in our social history, usually UN conformists, who was Jesus,
There where a lot of outstanding intellects’ around that time, as there is at any part of our civil history
As humans we need answers to everything around us, and if we can not prove it we will make our own interpretations to things that are going on in the world around us.
Keep posting your very imaginative pictures G.

The word ' mockery' kept ringing in my mind....I think mockery is just a way of showing total innabilty of not being able to logically explain the validity of invalidity of a person's point of view or believes......

MOCKERY is in my opinion the only easy available 'raw material' to disguise the frustration of feeling inadequate or unable to find valid arguments against the idea in question.....

........and thanks for your kind thoughts !...:):)

I'm with you. Bring on the Renaissance - The Art of Thinking.

I've tried this and am still licking my wounds. Easier to remain anonymous online.
I think, I explore via internal thought, I rarely share.

Hmmm, does that sound sad to anyone else in thinking distance?

" Bring on the Renaissance '....that sounds really, really good !.....
Somehow it appears that everything is in a total mess...if not near to chaos...pollution keeps growing, no matter what; our present values seem to be a total farce, art is to busy looking at itself in the mirrors of vanity; writers seem to have disappeared or in hiding and are afraid to express their opinions openly in fear of being labelled, scorned or expose themselves to a witch-hunting ... and the writers who have the platform are just to bussy pleasing their audiences...the livestock seems to be contaminated to a point of no return, marine life is dying out because of mankind's total greed, people's talents don't seem to count for anything unless it can produce $$$$ fast..fast..fats...; people don't seem to communicate...because there is no time or simply because they feel misunderstood...or because they are afraid to express their views in fear of persecution however much logic is on their side, and artist who dare to express their views, right or wrong, suddenly have a death warrant hanging on their heads even before they dare to think......and it all seems......."NORMAL' !.....and politicians seem far to busy drinking the intoxicating elixir of power and desperately clintching to it ....power as in power just to rule...not to think as in THINK !

Globalisation.....and the Global Village doesn't seem to work for the very people that is suppose to.....a so called ' ideal ' introduced and pushed by the market against the will of the people in order to fill its coffers and not with the ideal to create understanding between different cultures.....I compare globalization to going into a restaurant where before you had different menus...where before you could choose between exquisite French cuisine, great Italian pasta or Greek , Chinese, Indian, etc, etc .. all with their distinctive flavours and their unique palatal taste...but then... suddenly that restaurant decides to create the ideal and ultimate SUPER DISH ! ....so they combine all the different menus and put all the ingredients indiscriminately together in a huge boiling pot.....without thinking what are the best ingredients of each menu in order to prepare a sound, solid and delightful 'super dish', the ultimate dish and it must taste 'heavenly' !...just imagine what it must taste like all carelessly mixed !...I think that the taste would proof to be a total disaster... putting everyone off...a total tasteless SOUP !....

Cultures in my opinion are beautiful because each and everyone is unique and are as intricate as the human DNA so to speak; it has taken thousands of years to develop in order to become what they are today...all with their unique beauty, traditions and wisdom....but suddenly today's masters seem to know better, if not a lot better that all the wisdom and harmony create by time, trial and error, perseverance and practical knowledge......so indeed....BRING ON THE RENAISSANCE... before is to late !

Sounds like a book and you've got the fire to do it.
That's your assignment should you choose to accept.
I regret to inform you that I am not a publisher.

...your text kept me .... ' thinking '...and then I thought...a play !..perhaps a play would be most appropriate ( we are fantasising of course !!)...so we let our imagination run wilder than wild, and after the play...a film...I already see a line of Hollywood potentials lining up to become the characters..:):)..a film is certainly indispensable because today's society is mostly about visuals...and lets face it there is nothing more powerful and effective to influence people's minds and move emotions than the use of film...anyway people don't seem to read anymore if you look at the statistics....and the true fact is that is not that ' cool '...whatever that means in the case of reading.....LOL !

Anyhow my fantasy started running wild ( perhaps someone else has already...patented...the idea, but no matter)...and then I thought wouldn't it be really fun to make a play...about where certain influential and very different characters from the past are invited to a soiree and informally discuss today's world as it is right now and what would they do if they were in charge ?....the characters I'm talking about should be representative of spiritual and worldly matters....my candidates would be : Buddha , Jesus, Mahatma Gandhi, Machiavelli, Adolf, Andy Warhol ( he must be there with his Polaroid !) and as the hostess in the imaginary soiree the fabulous and very intelligent Diana Vreeland who by the way could spice up the big guys to drop their mould and become just for a moment 'ordinary mortals ' , but....and there is a but,...there is a dress-code-to-attend , and of course as it is customary in the matters of polite society they all accept without uttering disproval but reluctant and accept the invitation......the dress code is to chose the characters of an icon from the world of entertainment.....lets keep the public guessing about what each and everyone of them would choose...the only one I can reveal is....the character that Adolf found exciting and very happy to choose......he went for....... ' Mae West ' !, because as he always desired since he was a child and because being influenced by the confines of his childhood.....his ultimate dream had always being to conquer all men fully and truly....LOL...!

All the elements must be there...that's for sure......:):):):)
