So cruise do comission for sales?

Penny, I was thinking of ich ni san that used to be in the candleriggs where a mexican restaurant now stands, it used to have an amazing glass counter and they stocked a lot hamnett, komodo and other 90's designers.

Hanna, dont feel you need to defend anything, im glad we can all be here and talk about something in common rather than bitch about our differences.

I would be very sceptical about the laying of flowers at the versace store, i dont think versace jeans wearing dolly birds as you put it would really care about that. It was most likely rich people from bearsden and some footballers wives as cafe rouge round the corner used to be the big hang out for the nouveau riche. (hope none of you lot frequented there and I offended you with that remark...)

Actually, I laid them flowers on the steps of the Italian Centre. Joke. Strange, for all my time in Glasgow (i.e. most of my life) I never found the courage to step into Cruise (just the cheaper Cruise Jeans store, across from the GPO.) The only place I remember that sold anything interesting are Dr. Jives who stocked Margiela & a few others, and then that strange little vintage/antique store (more like hut) situated in a mews off Byres Road - "Starry, Starry Night," I think?

Dr. Jive is gone now as well...

You need more courage now in cruise as you have to buzz the doors to get in... VIP Dahling!

No it isn't - I was in it about three weeks ago. I think it's under new management - lots of streetwear now: Surface2Air Paris, P.A.M., Adidas Originals etc. The menswears has always been like that with a few brands like APC added in. My friend seems to think they used to stock Bless, I don't remember, only Margiela. (Not that this is an interesting conversation - just me being a pedant.) I always wondered what Cruise stocked - imagined it was a very commercial selection?? The idea of having to ring, ring, ring my bell is deplorable - plus from the outside in, the staff look like they've been plucked from a Armani ad. Fear.

you only needed to ring a bell on the castle st branch which stocked mens sportswear and there was lots of riff raff trying to get in and shop lift....

Yeah, but I was talking about the Cruise store in Glasgow, which is on Ingram Street. Do you need to ring a bell to get into the Cruise Jeans shop in Glasgow?

both stores are now secured by braveheart security so they have big bouncer like dudes stoating aboot and that big black hummer h2 around there every so often, they probably hang out at cafe rouge when they are off shift. Both have secure entries but they arent used all the time.

Dr jives went under last year, it must be under new owners as its still there last time i went by, I used to love the stussy t-shirts ( i remember my first time ahhh....) from there.

Cruise isnt that bad, they have a mix of the top 5 designers, suits, street level and a mix of brands, its really diverse and the streets and jeans shop has a good selection of more streetwear collections. I like aspecto better to be honest for street clothes.

Still want a pair of evisu/puma jeans... roll on september when I have some money...

I see, Cruise probably wouldn't be my thing, anyway, given my penchant for young, strange euro-design. Cruise is fine for the glamour market! Aspecto, that's the shop who now stock Stussy, right? Lots of streetwear brands. Without a doubt, the worst shop in Glasgow is student/goth/pseudo-emo hangout, Flip!

Glasgow needs a boutique to stock emergent designers from both London & Europe - I mean while Dr Jives is fine, it doesn't really stock anyone who does anything interesting. I remember when I was teenager loving Stussy, and the whole brand thing - can still remember the issue of The Face with the three "spritely" teenage girls hunched together dressed in Stussy, Adidas et al.
