Ben, Im in much agreement with a lot of the posts on here you leave, as I'm sure you know but......Joy Division and Ian are the creators of some of the most fucking amazing stuff committed to tape, whether or not a shit load of people who live in a crap part of town with fucking idiotic haircuts and a lesser knowledge of the roots of what they are told to listen to than 18 year old girls today have a knowledge of feminism.
In fact I get slightly sexually aroused simply by watching him twitch on top of the pops....anyway.....
And also i am a big fan of Raf, I know there are others out there doing something similar, and possibly better, albeit most of the Belgian 6, but I have a definate fetish for post free party industrial chic. I think it has something to do with my years of squatting, dodging the 'pigs' and sitting in anarchist cafe's in Brighton drinking subsidised cider and debating various ways to like totally subvert the whole comodified art world through fashion yeah.

I like Joy Division a lot matey, just very bored of it's constant referencing in all aspects of (Mens) fashion. I also like Raf a lot, I remember when I was at Uni this joker on the course (who looked a bit like a south park character) bought a Raf bomber jacket which had designer 'stains' on it. He had money and thought he looked the shit in this coat. One day we all had off, wearing the coat, he got searched in three shops for shoplifting, not even let into another, and rejected from about 4 bars because he looked like a tramp (apparently). The thing I find with Raf, it's shoots well but wears questionably.

Yeah i know what you mean, I once went to meet a designer, turned up to where he said he would be and there was just a tramp with a dog. Phoned the guy and the tramps phone went off, subsequently he turned out to be the designer. He was wearing some raf. God, you know when you realise your telling a shit story and you just cant actually be arsed.
PS, I realise my email may have sounded like a fifteen year old looking for work experience, im not. Sorry.

Joy Division represents something that is real and a snapshot of bordering stardom at the same time. Fashion has that same tension of wanting to be seen as something "real" or "raw" while being widely accepted.

But you really shouldn't overanalyze such things.
