OH how easy/obvious/boring it is to ridicule others!
Fairs fair and it is entirely plausable that you have developed these opinions. But dont you feel sad that your opinions arent really your opinions at all, i mean it so easy (if you dont feel compfortable, or understand what someone else is doing) to adopt such a negative aproach and opinions to these things, and just simply pluck the most obvious and fabricated and media generated ways and terminologies in which to articulate your 'apparent' opinions. Why dont you go consider why !wowow!/ supersuper and such like provoke these particular feelings, and then come back with some interesting/intelligant opinion, as opposed to jumping on the (quite frankly dumb) bandwagon of slagging everyone of in such a bitter and sarcastic way. It is always said that "sarcasim is the lowest form of wit" a cleche i know, but dont cleches exist because they are so true. YES, sarcasm is funny and even sometimes witty but when used to vent something that you supposedly are opinionated about. That just demonstrates a pathetic inabillity to articulate yourself in any other manner. Admitadly i initially had the same feeling towards SUPER SUPER/!WOWOW!/KASHPOINT as you and vented them in a simillar way, i soon realised that this was pathetic and was just manifested out of a discompfort with what i was doing what i was part of. Still i am not particuarly interested in that whole world, but entirely respect and appreciate alll that they do, because at least they are doing it and believe in it. I have been following this thread for a while, and didnt want to contribute to Valentines sad existence here, but ah well i couldnt keep out.

Oh my god!!! This is ridiculous. JUst came across this while searching for info on super super on google. I LUV suopersuper, its fun and there isnt alot that is at the moment is there??? At least it is generating response. Its just lame, this forum could be used 2 discuss so much more interesting things, like what they loved/hated about supersuper etc. Does anyone know when the next issue is out? and where i could get hold of superblow? Thanks.

(oh save us the gory details.) how can nobody think that self-proclaimed courting with controversy is lame? i think that all these 'happenings' are fine. i've been to some of the parties and I had fun, with or without a few bumps, but soi-disants seditionaries are simply not my bag. That's a game played by the frightfully bourgeois and the frightfully t'ah-some. I think the moral of the story is that words are cheap, especially when it comes to attributing yourself with the c-word. Otherwise, why not slather yourself in body paint and rut away in your borrowed KTZ banana pumps?

Oh Jesus, sometimes whats the fucking point.

(just for the record, it wasn't so everyone would know I take K, whether I do or not is immaterial, not only to me but I'm sure to everyone else. i was assuming a persona, one which I personally thought highlighted the ridiculousness of starting a thread such as this one, I couldn't give a shit how anyone lives and personaly have been a big fan of what Nam and Steve have done in the past and as my post further up the thread states I have a lot of respect for people who stand up and be counted).

what i absolutely have to comment on is the curious phenomenon of believing that an urban fashion movement like WOWOW harbours some kind of deep ideo-political power. Now, please don't lets all get offended about this too quickly, people. Just let me explain why I find this a little bit disturbing.

At the weekend a girl named Rebeccah was fervently defending WOWOW from the sneering posts of Valentine. Fair play. WOWOW is arguably an exciting thing to happen to London fashion and being unnecessarily acerbic about it without any real argument is tedious and inconsiderate. When I spoke up for them, she said

RE:VALENTINE
detlev,
i couldnt have said it better myself. Some people just dont understand that having fun can be a serious thing!

From Rebeccah, Sun Feb 26, 22:19

When I hear people posturing about controversy and subversion, I begin to realise why pretty little fools like rebeccah (she's a model apparently) end up parroting drivel like this. And rather worryingly, she's probably one of the clever ones. With anything these days, people are never at a loss to tell you that something's 'edgy', 'controversial', 'transgressive' whatever. So why is it when you prod them a little as to what they mean, they stare at you bemused as if you had just asked them to lick their own butthole?

Is this just a sign of the times that we live in? You tell me. I hate to make the connection but we currently have a crap government that similarly can't explain itself or tell us anything. Political figures can't take anything to any depth - nobody can consolidate what they mean. There is nothing strong or true or believable anymore. Words have been cheapened and exploited to create spin and goad the public. Whenever you ask questions you're always met with the same blank stares. That's just my experience. So who the hell thought it would be a good idea to start attributing bullshit vocabulary and token ideology-speak to something that should be apolitical, fun and celebrate the visual arts? Maybe if whoever hadn't bothered, it might have a longer shelf-life?

omg, what is wrong with everybody? does everyone reading this site have their periods? i have never heard a such group of whingers - and it seems that a lot of you are quite hypocrytical, either that or you're so busy cleaning the cobwebs from your bumcracks that you've forgotten the points you orginally made. I haven't read super super ( i probably will now tho ) but i do think that if you are going to do something that puts your ideas on thhe line as it were you are going to come under criticism, but also, you should be applauded. As for wowow, why are go having a go at a bunch of kids mucking about and having a laugh? it's nothing more than that - i think that people want it to be pretentious, but really it seems to be anything but. and before you say it, no, i'm not a part of wowow.

i agree with you, people should be able to explain their views, and it is annoying when they dont. but to be honest, who cares? who is valentine? why should i care what she thinks about a group of kids? or a magazine? like whhhhhatever.

Yikes, I turm my back for a couple of weeks and all hell breaks loose.

Why do I like SuperSuper? It's funny, witty and printed on nice paper. Plus I got it free. I don't think I'd pay for it but it's not reallly aimed at me, I think it's aimed at a young audience and I'm an old fogey.

The people everyone here seem to be whinging about are very fixated on this 80s-subculture freaks-n-weirdos aesthetic but as a child of the eighties I've seen that and done it yet I've not bitter. Let them indulge in it if it gets their cretive juices flowing, who's it harming?

Off-topic but the person who said Gareth Pugh is costume not fashion, that's what I used to say about Galliano, McQueen etc. But it doesn't REALLY matter does it? In any case, it's clear that Gareth Pugh is a talented designer. His clothes are theatrical NOW to get him attention (and it worked, Anna Wintour went to his show, Oh my - she stepped over my bag!!)but if you actually look it's clear he can cut a coat too. The ideas are there and the skill is too. OK, rant over.
