I had read in China their car manufacturing companies are scrambling to come up with more and more fuel efficient cars since Japan wouldn't share their technology. I think America might start to be behind on this because China, India and some developing countries have much greater needs to cut their dependency on foreign oil and resources, this is a very dangerous area to start fighting globally for natural resources, therefore these countries have to get faster on engineering ways for recyclable and renewable energy.

Yeah I had read that too. I'm a regular listener of the BBC world service, the news on alternative energy sources is really hot.

It's a faster changing world, when I was growing up in Hong Kong it was shopping with the same old weaved basket at the local market, then changed to using lots of plastic shopping bags, now we are beginning to see the trends back to using the same durable bag for shopping groceries instead using new plastic bag every time you shop.
It's an exciting world, the new frontier will start so many new industries, from construction to manufacturing to traveling, agricultures, the possiblities are endless.

...let's pray for it....! The huge hunger for natural resources coming from the overpopulated China and India ...is really frightening....I do hope that they will not be blinded by 'prestige' and power....that is when things more often than not do go wrong...

US is still the number one country in the world that produces the most waste per person per acre, etc. The ironic thing is "blinded by prestige and power" is a natural progression of industrialization and capitalism and growing of the middle class, once that phase is passed, and the general population becomes more educated and matured then people would become more awared and knowing of the unnecessariness of overly materialistic.
I think the gov't of China is awared of the lack of natural resources and they don't want to get into the situation the US has gotten in the middle east over control of oil, and the gov't is really trying their best to find recyclable energy.

....I suppose 'blinded by prestige and power; is a 'luxury' that we on Earth can no longer afford....otherwise we are just blinded fools so to speak ... and over that China ..' ...don't want to get into the situation the US has gotten in the middle east over control of oil...' .. perhaps you are not aware of the' hush hus' deals China has made in Africa and South America....about getting the Oil from those regions ...with the help of course of Chavez and the likes of him in Africa....using as a matter of fact the same tricks the USA used in the past.... of being 'generous'....That is the reality I'm afraid....

I agree with using diplomatic means to get resources, or trade, it's fair game, any countries including Japan would do that to trade for oil as long as they have the means to do it, no country is perfect, every leaders use politics and play political games to get what they want, but the US invaded Iraq over control of oil and control of that region, using Terrorism as an excuse, that's just wrong.

'cultures. peoples, religions, territories, way of life, boundaries and individual's rights equally to men and woman ' ...it all should be respected......
