Alan Fletcher retrospective at the Design Museum, has just opened. I would whole heartedly recommend everybody to go.

Incidentally did anyone see the Saul Bass retrospective last year?

yer i saw the saul bass, great stuff, probably going to visit the alan fletcher later in the month. Its quite amazing just how much saul bass has influenced motion graphics. funnily enough i was watching The Man with the Golden Arm the other day, turned it off 10 mins after the titles ended...

I did. It was very comprehensive and there seemed to be lots for even die-hard Bass fans too. I also went to the Alan Fletcher opening on Thurs and on the whole, it's just as good. I must admit I'm not a fan of his latter work, it's a bit too 80's hallmark greeting card/ cat sweater graphics to me, but what continues to really impress me is that both the work from Fletcher/Forbes/Gill and Saul Bass still looks as fresh today as I'm sure it did then. The problem with graphics is that it becomes passe and dated so quickly, but these guys are STILL good and the work hasn't aged at all..

Really! I wonder where from. I suppose the almost-white hair helps..
Did you go? It was well done, almost impossible to tell it was being edited in real time and the gallery space was the perfect size. You should sign up and do a 'screen test' this week too, although after seeing all those drag queens in pvc I have no idea what to do/say/wear. How can one compete with a 6 foot tall barbie doll in feathers I ask..

Dunno from somewhere.

I didn't go to the Charles Atlas thing I'm afraid, not sure what you mean by the screen test?

He's doing his version of Warhols infamous screen tests, where he's filming willing members of the public and then editing it in his style... basically the same thing he did at Turning, except this time its projected in the gallery and no Anthony in the background!

Oh right that sounds quite interesting, is it done live, and where abouts is this all going on then?

Maybe I don't recognise you, your picture reminds me of someone I think.

It's all done live in the gallery, although I'm not sure what they are doing with the footage afterwards. It's at Vilma Gold in Bethnal Green..
