Hey Shaw...
"i think the mistake most kids make is to imitate whats in the mags right now...instead of doing the OPPOSITE.....plus so many kids taking pics for the wrong reasons not looking at it as a lifes vocation but as a lifestyle...its been said before i know but it needs repeating"
Agreed, but I've come to find that this is part of an artists journey. I personally went over my favourite photogrphers works with a fine tooth comb as I'm technically quite pedantic and wanted to know "how the hell did Paolo do that painterly light thing". I experimented, learned, and take that on for future. The first learning that a human ever does as an infant, is imitation.
I think what separates an artist from a person who creates nice pictures (for want of better terminolgy-lol) is that day when you step away from imitaition and look with your own minds eye. The day that you decide...you know what, i want to do things my way, I have something to say. That take s a certain level of confidence to do that. You also need something to say in the first place...which at the end of the day is determined by in my opinion, by life experience. Some have better methods for communicating what's in side their heads. Some get all that sooner than others.
