steven meisel's lighting is rather careful, to such a point its almost like he doesn't bother about them. even if lights are harsh like direct sunlight they're all very well controlled.
Juergen Teller's work is almost a bit shocking in the first glance, his style I would say has a "no technique" look, almost seems immature-ish in a way, but one looks more closely then could see the genius in his sense of composition and approach in his body of work.
I get a sense that he loves to capture emotion on his subjects, through his lens, his models look like real women with emotion on their faces and in their eyes and that's very beautiful.
What I meant by "real" women was, because of course models are real women, but that they look like everyday women in his lens, women who have done some living, not just fashion models with pretty faces.
I think this thread is rather cool .... most of the photographers YOU mentioned above are FASCINATINGLY well known as celebrities and have a great eye ... but taking a break away from the whims of our beloved FASHION PACK .... I must say that there are two images by Nick Knight that I find MOST POWERFUL and in my opinion they help to illustrate the great essence of the POWER PHOTOGRAPHY ......
