Yep, I fucking love wes anderson. I found a copy of bottle rocket years ago at the exmouth market festival. Been converted since. The scores of his films are incredible too.

Well done Wesley.

he's cool... funny satirical movie, i've only seen 3 of his films, rushmore, royal tennenbaums, and the life aquatic. the last two are my favourites. the characters he's presenting are very unique.

what is even more refreshing is the approach he takes, where he hardly ever compromises his initial vision- he is completly true to himself! And watching the making of The Life Aquatic, proved he is a down to earth, unpretensious and sweet nerd- he dresses like a well dapper as well- i could eat him up ; )

I love Wes Anderson, i think those guys (he and owen wilson) are ubber cool!! yes they are trendy, they are stylish, maybe a bit too pretencious but they know their stuff... Just found about this movie, movie produced by Wes Anderson... The director is the co writer of Life Aquatic, Noah Baumbach... Apparently it makes fun of all of this intellectual coolness jaja!!

Wes Anderson's good. He doesn't blow me away but at least he has a distinct vision that he gets across on screen. Better then 90% of films based around explosions and teenagers getting grossed out.

I dont know if showstudio intended this forum to be used for discussing films, maybe too unrelated? If so, I'm sure they'll politely nudge us in another direction, but it would be nice to get a thread going on our favorite filmmakers. IMDB is full of snarky 15-year-olds and other sites are too bogged down with postmodern critical theory to keep any actual humor or enjoyment (or common sense for that matter) involved in the discussion.

So does anyone rate Scorsese, Luis Bunuel, Richard Linklater, Lynch, Werner Herzog? I saw Grizzly Man a week ago and, wow, you have to see it. It works on so many levels: unprecedented nature footage, morbidly fascinating look at a man losing his mind, making himself the sole director and star of his own film, comment on celebrity and the desperate lengths people will go to achieve it, man vs. nature, etc. And the whole time you know he's facing an instant, violent death that's inevitable. Incredible.

I rate Richard Donner, consistently great though if anything Lethal Weapon 4 was a low point of the quadrilogy, nevertheless I did enjoy the finale to the exploits of Riggs and Murtagh. I watched the orginal Lethal Weapon last night in fact, very good it was too.

I always find it funny how people who are interested in art or fashion (or any creative media really) generally pretend they don't watch anything except silent german films from the 1930's (Landon not you mate this is just me going off about people I know). There seems to be such a hilarious hierachy with what films people watch. Has anyone else noticed this? I know they secretly go to the cinema to watch 'Hitch'.

I enjoy a documentary, a silent german movie, an art house flick and am a big fan of shitty action movies especially from the 80's. I do rate scorcese, werner herzog and I like Lynch solely for the fact that he's as dark as it gets. Mullholland drive was a head fuck though.

I want to see Grizzly Man, and back to Wes Anderson I really enjoyed the life acquatic, but I urge everybody to try and track down a copy of bottle rocket his first movie - hilarious.

i like linklater's movies... before sunrise and before sunset are very good. it's simple, just conversations, but the material of what they were talking is really interesting, as well as waking life, it is really good. i can't wait to see a scanner darkly, his newest movie.
lynch? is he the one that directed twin peaks, old mini series? i love it! it's one of the best mini series ever!
wim wender's also one of the director i like, million dollar hotels is brilliant.
