There is no reason's why I say who I am? But if you believe then just let it be! Most of the time, my assistants do the wording, as my English Grammar is not so good! I think you should try and ask "To Ho-Fung" how he does his beautiful lighting.

I take your compliments very kindly to my films. Thanks.

Re Chris Doyle.

The fact that Chris Doyle mentions Martin Scorsese has gone nuts by trying to do a remake of a Hong Kong produced film into a western Hollywood glamourised film!
Why is a top class director doing a remake of a film(Infernal Affairs 1.2 and 3) which was superbly done and shot in Hong Kong... Has Hollywood ran out of scope to do their own films? Now trying to muscle in on China's raw energy and success that has evloved over the many years that now the west wants that slice of passion too!
I hope for the future that there will be more Chris Doyles calibre....
I too feel the raw passion in todays society in Hong Kong and China....world keep watching and Go East....as Diesel Industry says on there logos!

I loved when Chrys Doyle says that The Aviator is shite!..as i can't belive that movie neither! Scorsesse directed incredible films back in the day.. But i don't understand that someone that make a film like "Alice does not live here anymore" and "Raging Bull" end up doing "Gangs of New york"and "The aviator".. oh i know ...bling bling!
--
back to CD, He is pretty harsh in his statements sometimes uh??!! though i don't mind at all...I went to a conference 2 years ago, with Antony Dod, Henry Savides and CD (he was in video conference from Shangai) and he said super hard rock things and drop quite big critics but he ended up saying this this incredible thing:

" I spend every minute of every day noticing things like light or the the color of fluorescent fictures on the wall of a diner, for example. I get informed by exercising my eye. I mean, everyone involved in any creativity activity, actually, just evolves as a person because the know to celebrate life, because almost every single minute of their life becomes this incredible encounter. Its simple stuff. Its really, really stupid stuff. You notice the light reflected off the window, stuff like that, and it informs evrything you do. And if you use that in any responsive way, then it becomes allright. Isn't that what we are celebrating? Isn't that why we are slightly different from mainstream cinematography or mainstream attitudes towards industry and all kind of bullshit..beacuse actually in our different ways, we are responding to what we see, how we feel, where we live, etc..? It's so fucking wonderful world to live in. It takes you so far".

For me was hard to process Doyle saying this, combined with his though attitude..it was like watching a true artist (of the ones you dont see much anymore) speaking about celebrate life through creativity.

I really liked this interview as well.. thanks for the link WKW!

Excellent link, interesting background to Chris Doyle.

Still dreaming of going to HK one day and actually seeing how it all works behind the scenes...Need any western extras for upcoming films? I could be the photographer with an old leica in the next film! The name you use earlier to ho-fung, who is that?

Toa chie!

His Mandarin Chinese name is Du Ke Fung which means `like the wind'.

I believe that is the given name Chinese name to Chris Doyle, as I think he is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Chinese Cantonese in Ho Fung To!

Ah ok, now i know i will never have to ask again.

Pardon my ignorance in these matters, what type of lighting do the people use? Arri, kino flo etc? The last shot by solve (sorry I cant find the correct character for the o) of eva herzigova reminded me of the kinds of style of in the mood for love and 2046.

Beautiful.
