Sorry, this is a very grumpy post! ;)

Having been told over and over again by new independent magazines that my work isn't suitable for them but high end glossies, I submit work to the high end glossies who in turn tell me my work is more suited to....guess who...new independent creative culture mags!

Is this a problem experienced by everybody? Or should I throw my camera over a cliff!

Well its strange these people. It happens everywhere.

Often people get rather affected easily over what they see and may not know what you can produce aside from what you have on hands. Just keep on doing lots of different things.

I like your use of studio lighting very strong colours work for me.
Keep at it I do think that your work is more in line with possibly Dazed mag or the like.
Never take know for qan answer if you are confident in what you are at and have a direction there are so many great photographers and so few places to go for the work, good luck.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback, it's nice to know its a common problem!

I use mainly studio lighting, sometimes natural but I love artifice too much!

New (photographer) on this site, hoping to get a bit of advice/feedback. I've got my portfolio to a stage where I feel, although there's still a lot of work to do, I'm beginning to find a style/direction. A lot of testing has rinsed out my finances, so I can't afford to do tests as often as I would like any more. For this reason, I feel like my next tests should have an end in mind beyond just portfolio. Any suggestions on who I should approach for submissions/publication/exposure of this type of work?

Thanks, Oliver

sorry everyone - my post was meant to go in the main part of the forum, not as a reply (not trying to hijack anyone's post!). But as its already written, would appreciate replies anyway...
