im recently been looking at the links between the ideas behind the 'traditional' photographic portrait and that of the video portrait.

I have already thought about some of warhol and taylor woods video portrait. Aswell as others in a more fashion context, jean-francois carlys work that has been shown on showstudio aswell as simon foxtons work and the video work from guy bourdin.

does anyone out there know of anyone that has written about this kind of thing or any artists that you would suggest i look at in this enquiry?

Have you looked at Nick's 'More Beautiful Women' (it's in the Archive)? You should also research Cornelia Parker's 'The Maybe': I'm sure any article on that will have plenty of leads in the footnotes/bibliography.
