I here what you asre saying Bina79, but which photographers seem to be getting there picrures printed in magazines the moast. Candice is doing qute well at keeping in magazines especialy the Timesa.
Also whats the problem with the Euro pride link after all its all relevent to fashion and lifestyle.
As Dorian stated lets talk about fashion.art, photography, and stop attacking others.

I didn't like the banter that was going back and forward on the Euro post, it was getting tedious. As far as I'm concerned you can post what ever you choose regardless of whether I or anyone thinks it's worth replying to or not. But keep it relevant. Anyway with regards to this post I don't necessarily rate success with how many submissions you have in magazines. Yes that is a part of it but it's only scratching the surface. If you want AN example of another then check this photographer out http://www.zenaholloway.com/ Maybe not everyones taste but creatively and technque wise I think the quality is by far better. Delve deeper (no pun intended) and you will find underwater photography that is in a different league to Candice.

Just checked out some work I have of Candice, and yes I am sorry about the name mistake, one of the problems is that I am hyper active and very busy so do not take the time to check the smaller details, at least you all new who I meant though and its given a sort of debate.
I think that the picture I am tbinking of, not the one of Jules but the one of Kiere is more in line with the early holywood photo set, to me iot looks a realy good classic picture and one I would love to have taken or have on my wall. That to me is what photography art fashion and the related subjects is all about. If I did not like her work I would say so, or rather say nothing , that is called deplomacy.
I wish Candice Farmer the best of luck with the project aimed for charity.
And thaks Flux you are a real star

Did you check out the other photographer I mentioned? Interested to know what you make and whether you see the difference in technique and quality?

Hi, hope you don't mind me joining in bina79 but you posting another photographer for comparison piqued my interest.

Looking at the work of both women, it seemed to me that Candice Farmer uses watery settings much more evidently than Zena Holloway, quite a bit of whose imagery lookes like it might just as easily have been shot flashlit on a normal studio set, especially as it looks so heavily retouched. Different technique then, but quality?

And is this sort of underwater photography dominated by women?

I had to for work reasons look into both photographers. Zena Holloway most definitely shoots under water but to be able to achieve a look that appears to sometimes look shot in a studio I believe is a great achievement. I bring up quality because I'm fussy about how people choose to dress their images. I mentioned the leaves and shrubs as an example because I don't think they look thought through enough. It's as though they were just placed there to cover what would be the wall of the pool house. I think my major gripe is that there is too much on there. Maybe I would see a different quality if some of it was removed. There are poor images put in with some great images. But unfortunately you have to root through to find them. Ultimatelt it's a personal thing with this type of photography and considering the market they target high finish and the retouched look is more important. As for being dominated by women there just aren't many photographers that have moved underwater photography into fashion/advertising etc.

What I was also thinking Bina is that it is quite an achivement to get celebrities pepared to take pics under water, there agents must have been having fits.
With the work from Candice it was realy the one picture in the series mentioned that did it for me.
I was not taking in to account that it was a celebrity in the picture I just thought that it was a very good quality photo.
I agree a lot with your last statement.
I will look forward to checking out the photographer you have mentined.
Under water photography is highly specialised and what can go wrong will go wrong, and it is compunded in comparison to what happens above water so I think anyone who can get established in this field deserves respect.

Checked the pictures out and thought that they where stunning.
I have seen Zenas work before in magazines but not checked out the website, so I thank you for getting it to us Bina
I must admit that I prefer to see under water figures, photographed more in this style, as though they are dancing, consentrating more on the human form, draped with light cloth.
Thanks Bina

I love Candice's work! Her earlier work is my favourite. This particular photo (above) was one I discussed in a project back when I was in college. I would really like to try some underwater photography myself. I've been looking in photography magazines at underwater equipment recently but I doubt I will find time to organise such a shoot.
