Mopar, I hate to disagree but I don't think that pseudo-dynamism simply means "fake movement." I know dynamics relate to movement, but I understood "dynamics" as the processes through which things move, interactionary etc. But let's not get pedantic. What I was merely trying to do was allow Maikeru to illustrate what he meant to me, not provoke confrontation. You, however, appear to be a cock.

I am sorry for being abusive, I obviously took what you said the wrong way. (ie as not being constructive)
My translation is simplistic but correct, and yes there is an "interactionary" dynamic between the models in Meisel's shoot. Though "dynamic" is a word for motion not a word explaning the process or specifics of motion. Something "dynamic" can move metaphorically and not literally, but "moves" non-the-less. I don't think Maikeru is saying anything complex and I was frustrated by what to me looks like a silly question put by someone who appears not to have seen the images in question. At the end of even more posts about Madonna.
Please accept my apology for articulating my frustration in a personally abusive manner.

it looks like mopar answered the question for me. Although at the expense of getting a few tempers frayed in the process.

As i meant there is a certain style of movement in his pictures that is very staged it looks like he tells the models to appear to move towards an action and never quite get there but to keep in that pose almost like a snapshot just before the decisive moment in an image. I dont know how else to articulate at, look at his pictures; models will jump with one knee up and appear to be still but it doesnt look like a finished pose (his shots of snejana and Daria in italian vogue a few months ago show this).

In terms of the words:

pseudo- or (before a vowel) pseud- combining form, forming nouns and adjectives, denoting 1 false; pretending to be something • pseudo-intellectuals. 2 deceptively resembling • pseudo-scientific jargon.
ETYMOLOGY: From Greek pseudes false.

dynamism noun limitless energy and enthusiasm.
ETYMOLOGY: 19c.

or alternatively

dynamic adj 1 full of energy, enthusiasm and new ideas. 2 relating to dynamics. dynamically adverb.
ETYMOLOGY: 19c: from Greek dynamis power.

This is how I use the word but as we know all words have different meanings and emotions (as we can see in this thread...) and I accept if you think my terms is wrong gramatically. I didnt get a degree in english so my reasoning may not be sound :-)

So can we leave behind the etymology of my silly words and start talking about meisel again?

My question is, does anyone know what he looks like? I personally would like to see a picture of him, to see if he exists really :)

He has long black hair and big black sunglasses.Quite wierd looking, but according to a piece in "American Photo" a top agent says in terms of succesful editorial and advertising he produces a similar quantity to that of the next 4 photographers in the league combined! (they were making a chart of the top photographers in advertising and fashion)
See a rare glimpse of Mr.Meisel without sunglasses at www.stephanesednaoui.com - portraits, portfolio 2.

sweet turbo!

I only saw the picture of his eyes before that other shot after, he must be a yoga dude as well (who isnt these days dahling!).

He looks like i kinda imagined him to be.

I could believe his output is prolific compared to everyone else but as well as his style his presence in the top magazines in the marketplace is another factor in his success and well done to him.

Like many people who have only know a labour government, i have only seen vogue italia with meisel, who was the main photographer before meisel and what happened to them?

Now this might show the age of some people on this board :)

It must be an age thing today as im one year older than I was yesterday...

Bit of a grey bloomsday here in glasgow...hmppphh!

Happy Birthday Maikeru!

Italian Vogue before Meisel. Thats a funny one because I really had to think!

I think mostly P.Lindberg,S.Klein P.Roversi were doing the covers, But it was a while back...

I understand he is a shy man. I also understand from a friend who
assisted him that he doesn't liked to be looked at directly by his assistants. This
might sound far-fetched, but I understand he is at the harder end of hard-core to work for.
I remember a time when I thought we'd never see a Labour government, but I wasn't
reading Italian Vogue at the time!

I would bet that Newton and Steve Heitt also featured heavily in 70's 80's Italian Vogue.
