Mcqueen's menswear was so good this season - so much better than SS05. Now it's taken a bit of a Dries Van Noten direction with a lot of embroidery applique on the jackets but the overall look is much different - very patrician Italian but with a definite air of Il Duce about it as well. It has a kind of terrible elegance that is edgy on account of the dangerous connotations it wields. I like the knitwear especially too. Oh and the fur. And the tartan capes with oriental flowers embroidered on them really make an impact.

I don't know what's funnier, the name 'Dingles' or the white jeans and Striped sailor t-shirt comment.

Make a piece of ladywear, then modify it into the shape of a man.

women can get away with almost anything, men are still held back buy the ideals of the great masculine renounciation...but it's hold on men is slowly coming undone...it's an exciting time.

I agree with Ben Morris re Helmut Lang (although I've never done any fashion work). I'm curious to see what HL ends up doing but perhaps this will become a private affair. That would be a shame for the obvious reason that he is quite an original thinker. Part of my personal interest in his work lies in his collaborations with artists. There is of course a lot of power in a 'name' but the relaunch will not be 'true' HL. Apparently the new designers have been looking through the archives . . .
I wonder if one can compare these new arrangements or take-overs or whatever one wants to call them and the designs produced with posthumous projects?
