Most of the designs by designers on the high street are not designed by the designer they are designed by some low paid graduate and them approved by the designer's marketing and PR dept. I want to be proved wrong because I know someone who does that for Debanhams.

You're probably right and not surprising as this is no different than a liscensing deal. The quality is never that great, considering it's H&M, and I think the asking price is bt high consider it's h%M quality. But then again most people don't care.

The stores in Toronto were sold out in less than an hr yesterday. That's insane. Maybe that's a record for sales on a non sale day? People were actually fighting over items.

I think so, but didnt go to H&M and wish I did now its gone. The clothes looked really wearable and very stella. I also think they will become amazing collector pieces. It also looked like alot more love went into their creation than the lagerfield line and normal diffusion wear in likes of Debenhams. I mean, has anyone actually seen how naff the Matthew Williamson stuff is?? Its terrible and looks so etam

That's true, Julia, the Stella line is much better than the other designer liscensed lines at high street shops. Some of the lagerfield stuff last year was not as wearble as the Stella line. Perhaps this will get other designers to consider more carefully what they put out there? I think it was smart that she reworked styles of items people would already want. But me personally, not willing to pay $100 for an H&M dress, stella or not.

Goodness I didnt realise it was that expensive! Was lagerfield that price? I hope it does change how blaise designers are about their diffusion lines in department stores, it tends to undermine rather than enhance their image/creativity I think. There is a really good shop/line just opened in London called maje that sells clothes that price, but they are really good quality and ethereal - Im such a girl!

Yeah, I remember last yr the lagerfield line was $100 *that's canadian dollars, still a lot to me)for a dress. Mind you, eventhough it's high street, it's never cheap once they put a designer name on it. It's all in the name. What's funny is that the recent HM stuff was looking like some of Stella's work! But if I were going to buy from a diffusion line, I'd probably go for the adidas stella.
