The super rich are still buying clothes that cost thousands of euros each, but for the average citizens who are in the working class, between the age of 25 to 70, looking through fashion magazines arouse different feelings and reactions now than it did a few weeks ago.

this is true. Its easy for the rich to be able to look through a magazine or go shopping and be able to buy anything they want. While average working class look through magazines and might giggle at how ridiculously high the price of a pair of prada heels are. Im sure when you have tons of money it would be easy to get caught up in the spending rituals.....buying exspensive water to the most expensive designer clothes. The Average working class can only dream of what it would be like to afford anything from VOGUE magazine. Sometimes we forget about the less forunate or even the economy. Its interesting the think about where the money would go if the rich would stop spending their money on designer clothes and other exspensive, even though the rich still hold alot of charitie events i still dont think its quit necessary to buy a 20,000 dollar dress. Its not just the rich that over spend on material things, most of do it.

What is interesting is that I find myself having different feelings lately when looking through high fashion magazines. I would think more of practicality and necessity than merely admiring the creativity and beauty. It's not that the rich have changed, but it's the average people's reactions have changed when looking at high fashion magazines.

But there are equally BEAUTIFUL designs or even better !!! ... and more affordable than the big LOGOS ..... the so called SMALL designers with their own vision, finesse and great quality but they aren't as known as the "BIG" ones people are obsessed with .... ' understandably ' .... because small designers haven't got as much worldwide exposure and ADVERTISING POWER available to them as the BIG CATS have !. Perhaps, let's hope that people who can afford good design and quality can find his/her way to those relatively unknown very CREATIVE TALENTS if just because they have less money to spend !

In any case , I somehow don't understand the whole issue with 'reach people' and their money ? , 'primitive instinct' in the matters of 'status' aside .... for one thing they live in a totally different world .... a world of their very, very own .... and really who could give a toss about what they can afford or not .... most of the ' rich ' today don't have discerning taste ..... just look at the ' unique ' pieces of 'ART ' they invest in ! ... but that is their money so ... good luck to those purchases !

What I find interesting is that somehow the economic crisis is rather a blessing in disguise ... for those who have limited disposable income
because they will have to equally reassess their personal values and priorities ... let's hope so anyway . When you read about how much people live beyond their means then I do believe that sometimes we must be taught a lesson the hard way ! ..... as for the very poor , luckily, we live in societies where the poor is not left out in the cold ..... and in any case their priorities are never to buy PRADA or GUCCI .... let's hope so anyway ! .... I could be mistaken, but then again they'll have to chose between ... dinner or not dinner tonight !

I don't believe that people is going to dress just in black for reasons of practicality .... people will always want to dream ... and now more than ever ... the key lies in that those 'dreams' must be affordable .... the designers know that ... the 'investors' know that ..... Big conglomerates are the first ones to want to make profits as much as they can .... they will pressure their in-house designers to come up with better ideas to entice the 'pound-less ' public .

But the most wonderful news of the crisis is for the environment (not the dealers of course), is that people are not buying as many cars ... therefore less dependance on oil and less money for those who speculate with the price of
oil !. MOTHER EARTH must be feeling, indeed, some great comfort in that ! ..... but as Golda Meir said in her biography " they have two choices: "... to eat THEIR oil or sale it " ....... I rather would prefer that they eat it ! ..... I for one will ride my precious bike whenever and wherever I can !

So considering the ' sacrificial' state of affairs brought by the crisis ... there is no reason to PANICK! .... because we will get through it no matter what ... we humans always do .... sadly for many whom I sympathise with ... to certain extent the lesson will be .... never wear a pair of pants that are to big ! ... but just wear your own very own comfortable size !

There are people who spend so much money on clothes and designers when all they are buying is the name not the item. Many of the time people with money aren’t looking for more of what they have but more of whom they have. I personally think that alot of the overly expensive designs are too overdone and sometimes aren’t even wearable. Specifically, Ed Hardy is one of those cases. I mean he essentially or should I say the line is essentially taking period art (50’s-60) and glamming it up. Is it attractive …no. Is it basically screen printed and bejeweled…yes? It is all about taste and style and whether you’ll sacrifice that for a name or not. There are so many unknown designers in the world that it’s like a delight to choose some of many than one of the same. Many people in less economic situations buy knockoffs. I don’t understand this, if you buy the fake thing its like fake it till you make it. Why not buy a cool brand that no one has ever heard of and probably won’t cost you as much as a bmw? What an idea right? OR even at local markets, buffalo exchange, eBay or thrift stores. There are so many outlets you can go to for amazing fashion that sometimes even out do the designers who are in the spotlight. Also as well, are the outlets such as target or Kmart who have become more chic in their offering of clothes and accessories? In the end the outcome of expensive fashion isn’t what the actual garment is, a jacket is a jacket. I mean you can get a fur hooded jacked it downtown Los Angeles for 40 dollars or a Prada jacket of the same kind for five thousand .It all depends on the names…in the fashion industry …the name makes you.

"...in the fashion industry...the name makes you."-I wonder if that's true now, we see lots of young, creative people who mix and match different looks, from different sources-Wal Mart, Target, Salvation Army, vintage store, garage sales. I know very few people who would wear head to toe famous brands, unless they are in certain economic class.
