What's happening to the return of the shoulder pads?

To my horrors, I found in US Vogue this issue, lots of looks with the emphasis on the shoulder, and even using shoulder pads. I don't get why some designers would even thought of bringing one of the tackiest, ugliest fashion features back.

Everything repeats itself. As long as the cuts aren't 80's oversize it shouldn't be too bad though.

The YSL dress Kate Moss wore in the ad looks very 1980's in the cut, shoulder pads are never comfortable to wear, they are not flattering to see, as long as they are visible through the fabric. Sometimes elements in fashion are very silly.

... of course it all depends on how the designers are able to interpret that very 1940's element of ' feminine' fashion ... if he/she has the right feelings of how to drawn that particular shoulder line on the pattern then it can look gracious and flattering with the right proportions ( no... I/m not referring to the 1980's rather tacky interpretations ! ) ... in the end not everyone knows how to do it.... however hard they may try to ' reinvent' it according his or her own sense of ' perfection '....:):)
