Diane Pernet wrote about her at the Shaded View.

THE FUTURE IS IN THE STARS

s/s 2007

The collection is based on the concept of a paper bag - simplicity, purity, rawness. All
looks are a take on this idea and shape, playing, developing and transforming it. Three
colours (black, white, grey), two fabrics (silk, cotton), two basic lines.

The cotton pieces come in one shape in all three colours; the silk are hand-painted,
each piece is unique. All drawings are taken from a 60s edition of Truman Capote's
"Other Voices, Other Rooms", by the celebrated Polish artist Jan Samuel Miklaszewski.

LOVE HOTEL

a/w 2007/2008

The title derives from Haruki Murakami's novel "Dance Dance Dance", in which these
Japanese 'love hotels' figure as places where the sun never shines and all emotions are
hidden. The collection's black sequence is a reflection on the theme of dusk and
darkness. There are also references to manga costume, the juxtaposition of the youthful
and the conservative, the provocative and the plain.

The collection also introduces Kuczynska's street and sports lines consisting of
T-shirts and jeans. All illustrations are designed exclusively by Karol Sliwka, one of
Poland's pre-eminent graphic designers, who works only with pen and paper, refusing to
succumb to computers.

His designs for "Love Hotel" are a reinterpretation of symbols used by various cultures
to protect against the evil eye. All are in red - the colour of good luck.
