Fashion's favourite revival - a moribund house shaken to its foundations with an injection of fresh, vibrant talent - was this season exemplified by Celine, an erstwhile dusty name that has been reinvigorated by the talent of new designer Phoebe Philo. Showcased here in an exclusive video - created in-house under Philo's direction and never before seen online - this first collection for Spring/Summer 2010 was a concise, precise and seductive statement, focused firmly around sharp and short silhouettes butter-soft leather, fluttering scarf-silk and calf-bound whipcord in neutral shades of caramel, cognac and every shade of black. For this inaugural catwalk outing, Philo and her team undoubtedly achieved their aims: in one fell swoop, they have established the house's future direction; projecting the label at warp-speed into fashion's premier league; and most importantly made Celine the must-have name for Spring/Summer 2010.
