This was Mon Tsuki's first (mens) show at Japan Fashion Week and my last. Black nylon suiting with patent piping around the seams, brown, shiny 'thinsulation' fabric puffas and super tight trousers abounded (boy, do they like a contoured crotch in Tokyo, it seems!). Chocolate-coloured patent is not a common sight in fashion and let me tell you, it wasn't unwelcome.

Thanks to Penny and Showstudio for the coverage of JFW. Nice balance of menswear and womenswear shows. I genreally get "Collections" to keep me up to date on new Japanese design but this adds another angle! Bravo. Mon Tsuki was cool as was the show from Yammamoto Jr. Penny- I think we should talk to either Marjon P or Bernhard W about making a custom bag for me to be in next time. I suggest them because their canvas bags are totaly Tardis (huge on the inside) and would not be frowned upon by any of the Japanese fashion press who would see it appear at each show!

Wow thank you Penny for such fascinating coverage of JFW. for those like myself whom have not had the fortune of extensive travel, this is just gripping. Suddenly Japan and its wealth of contemporary design and rich cultural roots doesnt seem a million miles away. Thank you for buildng this bridge, and bringing into my day the varity of creativity that the other side of the world has on offer.

.....very inspiring to see that all the designers shown seem to be able to create...and create...and yet the commercial aspect somehow seems to be an ally in stead of being its competition and/of...deterrent from letting imagination and fantasy follow the trail where new ideas are forged and found......the ‘cooking pressure’ so to speak.....
