Thanks so much for this Showstudio. Definetely priceless for all of us that obviously cannot make it to that exhibit. You made my evening with this!

The only thing is that Movie 3 doesn't load at all...

Im a total grupie/fan/follower/wannabe of Saville.. and this exhibition seems to compile all the great things about him.

Love the format of the dual screen and the commentary by Peter Saville. The part of of where he explains all the pitches for Republic is so good.

And that print of "From Hip" by Section 25 is there .... wow!.

Yeah, I had that 'From the Hip' record but it got destroyed. It was really nice. No big deal though, I could go down to the used record store and buy another for $5. That's one thing that struck me while I was watching this. One of the tables I just bought the entire contents of on eBay for C$15. If it's mass-produced and easily obtained is it really worthy of being in a museum? I think it can be depending on the context of the presentation. Maybe that's one of the controversies surrounding the Design Museum?

It's funny, shortly after I watched this I came across the definition of Bauhaus- 'to design things to improve the life of the proletariat'. I'm not an art student so I didn't already know this, but it's what I've always admired Saville for - I kind of thought it was his idea!

I really enjoyed this, I've been a big Saville fan since age 13 when I noticed the Roxy Music and Ultravox records in my parents collection and thinking 'wow, I like this Saville guy - why can't everything look this good?'

Can't wait to watch reel 3!

But i guess that design exhibitions aren't about being unique pieces. In fact one of the differences between "art" and "design" is the massive/commercial factor. In my opinion this exhibit is about showing the concepts, ideas, production of Saville...

Im glad his stuff is produced massive and still can be in the top and in a museum.

Very glad this has proved to be a success, as I think it's pretty special. I'm assured that whatever might have been wrong with the third film is now corrected, for anyone who was rebuffed the first time.
