Same here, stayed well clear for a while just due to my rightoueus "anyone that wins the mercury isn't worth bothering with" attitude, but was seriously embarressed by my desperation to be underground when I put the time in.
I recently found out he is performing at the Barbican in November (4-5) with Charles Atlas, a video artist that worked with Hegarty back in 2004 on a peice entitled 'Turning' at the Whitney Biennial.
The peice involves Charles Atlas filming 12 NY "beauties" that are rotating on turntables placed on the stage, and then editing the footage live to an accompaniment by Hegarty.
I saw a preview that looks pretty fantastic so am very excited about the performance, the show at the Barbican will be a re-enactment of the 2004 Whitney performance and I beleive is also being shown at a Biennial in Mexico and Rome sometime between now and November.
Charles Atlas is also having a short retrospective of films at Tate Modern, and these include work with Kiki Smith and Leigh Bowery.
Atlas also directed Antony and the Johnsons latest music video I beleive although I am not sure of the tracks title.
