Please, don't ever say those three words again: 'It's all relative'.

without wanting to swear or be disrespectful towards showstudio; I am not shocked that they are doing a piece on gareth pugh. Im not shocked because every other f***ing person to do with fashion has done. the ploarois gallery is soooo not original, in fact it reminds me an awful lot of a student project. gareth pugh is not originl either, if you walk round east london you see a million sick looking skinny white boys with huge bags full of padding or something to make their creations with. when are people going to realise, hes not f***ing original hes just a attention seeking whore.

They're a bunch of tramps, who I've had the misfortune of rubbing shoulders with many a time. And eucinpyos, I have met Molariod on a personal level, and yes he is extremely vile.

As for this project, I never expected Showstudio to stoop so low. If I see another photo of that fucking KT (muse to pugh), or Mathew Wowow(I cast myself in a McQueen Campaign), I may die of vomit exhaustion.

Not fun for everyone, I was also going to mention Marios Schwab. He seems to have been completely overshadowed by his contemporaries - kim jones, emma cook etc. Why is he still showing in London?

And God, I'm dying for one of those baby pink, Christopher Kane, lace dresses. They're amazing!

Valentine, I agree, he doesn't seem to get as much of the press attention of Pugh et al. Then again, he seem's like a quiet guy who values his privacy; his works speaks for itself, anyway, and in that way he has more potential for longevity. I am sure he will move onto Paris sooner or later, as it seems a much more suitable platform for his work than the current "crazee" London scene. About Kane, if you look at those dresses they're amazingly constructed & the colours he has chosen are very apt. At first I thought it was just hype to be honest, but after seeing the collection and the way everything works together, I really think it's deserved! Molly Grad's collection was also excellent - elements of Viktor & Rolf - her work is also about mass & grandeur, but also really intricate. So, it is strange that the emphasis on Pugh has continued for the past two seasons, with just fleeting reference to the other new London designers.

Regarding Pugh, as I have said before it doesn't do it for me, but what I don't understand is how it is so original when it is completely referencing Leigh Bowery? Sure he's adapted it and made it his own, but it's still is rip-offed Pugh. It's all good to emphasise the performance element of his work, yet surely if he's being supported under "New Generation" via the BFC, then it should be about the clothes - and notwithstanding those balloon/spherical structures, they aren't all that interesting??

Hello. So I just read everything that is above, and felt i should try my best to explain the project and try and clear up a few things... I'm sorry that its taken me so long to do so, i wasn't aware a forum topic had been posted on the project.

In an attempt to answer the original question- I was asked by Nick to do this project to try and show, in a nutshell- who I am (he originally wanted to call the project- Who Are You, Gareth Pugh). I cant speak for him and explain why he asked me, Im sorry, i know thats a big gripe for a few of you.

Perhaps it has not yet been announced, but the culmination of the project will be a week of live performances (from 3rd-7th july) where i will be either going solo, or collaborating with people who inspire me, to attempt to communicate, via the unique medium showstudio offers, the ideas behind my work.

Basically its a chance to present my inspiration- something that is not usually touched upon in printed media, and as showstudio is much more about the workings behind the finnished product as it is anything else, it gives me the chance to show more than just my clothes (which won't feature at all). I dont however want this to be seen as anything definitive, its a work in progress, as with anything really, its a chance ive been given to play, and experiment. I've never before worked in this format, and I was interested in the challenges entailed.

The polaroid gallery serves the purpose of just that- a diary. Its nothing more, its not supposed to be a finnished product, its just there to give context to people who aren't familiar with me, my work, or the people that surround me. !WOWOW! is always a massive influence, and i make no apologies for its prevelance within the project. Its difficult not to reffer to it when all of my friends and collaborators are in some way or another connected to the term... this is what people dont understand-

!WOWOW! is not a group of specific people, there is no ownership, its not a brand, its something that has evolved through time into a mass of people who together share an interest in creativity. Its not exclusive.

Anyway, i hope that explains a bit more about whats happenning with the project... im hope some of you will love it, im sure some of you will hate it, but thats just the way it is, i can live with that.

Gareth,

Well said! I got the feeling that a lot of this was about it being 'fun' for SHOWstudio, but I guess the fashionistas on the site don't know when to take a step back from the serious, eh?

Yours,

B.R.

Bad Rap stop licking Gareth's arse. I do know when to take a step back from the serious, it's just that posting polaroids of twats isn't my idea of "fun".

I have been pondering a response to the SUPERSUPER !WOWOW! GARETH subject for a while, and the bitter feeling I get from those irritated by them has stopped me. This thread has proved that intelligent discussion can be had and can provok responses from those closer to the project than some realise.

I am also irritated by this paticular scene. However I put it down to simply not finding it to my taste. I am impressed by how provocative it has been and agree with La, that parallels can be drawn, not with other scenes but with the reactions they provoked (though maybe so far only within the industry). Fashion and imagery are at their best when provocative and NK has always been a provocateur.

There is a try-hard image to many within this scene, which appears fake and is self-obsessed. The craving for attention by some is being fed handsomely by those who are most irritated by them. I believe and hope that quality and integrity will rise to the top, though those who make the most noise too, stand a better chance. Meanwhile I will switch from having Show as my holding page as I can't have Gareth's head popping up each time I use the internet!

This all seems like the Emperor's new clothes to me. I'm so disappointed that SHOWstudio has stooped this low. Do you really think this stuff is comparable to the likes of McQ and Galliano ?? This is nothing more than costume design, and nothing to do with fashion. Shame on you SHOWstudio for not seeing the wood for the trees, i really thought you had your sights set higher.
