levelHead

Julian Oliver is a software developer based in Madrid. levelHead consists of a solid plastic cube which is then tracked by a camera, so that on the screen in front of you it appears that there is an escher-like room inside with a lone white figure. By tilting the cube, the figure moves around the space as players try to find an exit from the room. As players leave one cube they move onto another more complex cube.

> PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Last Updated Monday, 24 September, 2007

SHOWstudio has partnered with Evian to devise a fun, interactive video installation that allows visitors to the exhibit to become part of one big replenishing body. The work is inspired by the fact that the human body is made up of 60% water which is renewed every six weeks, mostly with what you drink. Using a 25 section, touch-screen video grid located at the Beyond the Valley gallery boutique on Newburgh St, W1 from 15-22 September, visitors are invited to make a one -second video recording of a close-up section of their body, which will be added to a constantly moving, composite video portrait. Each participant will make their recording on top of a previous one so that the videogrid itself becomes a continually replenishing body. The finest digital examples of the video montages will be saved and added to an online gallery shown here. At the close of the project, these final artworks will be judged by Nick Knight, who will select the three finest video portraits of the whole Replenishing Body project.
