Apurva Asrani is an award-winning film editor and TV and film director based in India. Asrani began his career cutting the promos of various feature films including Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Khamoshi’ and went on to edit full-length features. His editing credits include Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Satya’, for which he won the Filmfare Award in 1998 and Sunhil Sippy’s ‘Snip’ for which he won a National Award in 2001. Asrani’s editing credits also include Anupam Kher’s ‘Om Jai Jagadish’, Kallpana Lajmi’s ‘Kyon’ as well as the highly acclaimed ‘Chhal’, for which Asrani was nominated for best editor at the Zee Cine Awards in 2002. He has also produced, written and directed several horror films for Sab TV’s ‘Khauff’ slot as well as his forty-five minute film entitled ‘Intezaar’. Asrani has worked extensively as a writer for the British stage including co-writing and co-directing ‘Bollywood: Yet Another Love Story’, a spoof on Hindi films, and co-writing the dialogue for ‘The Deranged Marriage’. Asrani has recently edited and directed the pop promos for the UK based Partners In Rhyme’s album, ‘Tera Mera Pyar’. He also co-authored ‘Mumbai Diary 2006’ on the theme of Mumbai in Bollywood, which traces the journey of Indian cinema over the last century using pop culture references. Asrani is currently casting his debut feature film.
