Writer
Hywel Davies is a freelance fashion writer. Since his BA in Fashion Communications & Promotion at Central Saint Martin's College of Art & Design, Hywel has worked in the fashion industry. He began as a stylist for British broadsheet newspapers and fashion monthlies such as The Saturday and Sunday Telegraph and UK Elle, and then worked as a writer for a series of style and online publications including Vogue Online and Scene magazine. He went on to become Deputy Fashion Editor at Sleazenation, leaving after two years to become a freelance writer. In 2006 Hywel moved to Singapore to start up the FIOS (Fashion Institute of Singapore) and is currently teaching in the Fashion Department at Central Saint Martins. Hywel has contributed to a range of internationally acclaimed publications including UK Vogue, Dazed and Confused and Self Service as well as The Guardian, The Times, The Independent and the magazines Attitude and Grafik. He has also worked as a consultant at Levi’s, Topshop, Topman, Orange and MTV. His first book 'Modern Menswear' was published by Laurence King in 2008, and his next book '100 New Fashion Designers' is due to be released in September 2008.
