Brad Pitt is one of the most successful American actors of his generation. Born William Bradley Pitt in Oklahoma in 1963, and raised in Springfield, Missouri, he went to the University of Missouri to study in journalism, but left just short of graduating. He moved to California to pursue a life-long interest in films, paying for acting lessons with past-time employment, and working in television and low-budget films. It was during a short but scene-stealing performance in 'Thelma and Louise' in 1991, that he began his ascent to momentous fame. Known as an actor with a talent for eccentric character roles, as well as possessing popular good looks. He is academy award nominated, with serious critical and commercial success - which has cemented his status as one of Hollywood's leading actors.
