Filmmaker

Monica Elkelv is a filmmaker and art director based in London. She specialised in experimental filmmaking under Izabella Pruska from Loop collective and award-winning Canadian film theorist Bruce Elder. Elkelv's interests range from the aesthetics of the human body in art movements and the incorporation of the personal-identity into avant-garde forms in social, virtual, philosophical and metaphysical contexts. Elkelv's films have been exhibited in Spain, London, Toronto and New York and her fashion films have been showcased on SHOWstudio, Dazed Digital and at the Birds Eye View film festival at the ICA. Her latest art direction commission has been nominated ‘Best UK Feature’ and ‘Best Director’ as part of the London Independent Film Festival 2009. Monica worked in 2007 with independent art curator Javier Duero on the production and creative direction of a diverse range of media art events in institutions such as the Centro Gallego de Arte Contemporaneo (CGAC, Santiago de Compostela), Centro Internacional de Cultura Contemporanea (CICC, San Sebastian) and Circulo de Bellas Artes (CBA, Madrid).
