Fashion Designer
Sandra Backlund is a fashion designer, living and working in Sweden. She graduated from Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm in 2004, working full-time on her own label since then. Backlund is known for handcrafted knitwear with sculptural elements, approaching fashion more like a sculptor than a tailor. In 2007, Backlund was the winner of festival International De Mode et De Photographie at Hyères, and in the same year collaborated with Louis Vuitton on their knitwear for A/W 2007. Backlund was selected by Franca Sozzani of Vogue Italia for the Protege Project presented in Florence in January 2008. In 2009 Backlund received NewGen sponsorship from The British Fashion council for the first time.
