Fashion Designer

Fashion designer Veronique Branquinho was born in Belguim in 1973. Between 1991 and 1995 she studied fashion at the Royal Academy of Antwerp, a college counting Raf Simons and Dries Van Noten among its alumni. After graduating, Branquinho worked for several commercial labels in Belgium before presenting her own independent collection in a Parisian Art Gallery in 1997, after which her first official catwalk show soon followed. In 1999 she was asked by the Italian leather company 'Ruffo Research' to design for their womenswear line. She designed two collections for the company, displaying a sensitive and inventive manipulation of leather for which she is now known. She opened her flagship store in Antwerp in 2003, and has worked as a Professor at the Universitat fur Angewandte Kunst Wein, Austria since 2002. Branquinho has also designed costumes for various movies, and has collaborated on several projects for theatre and art exhibitions.
