Fashion Designer

Aitor Throup graduated from the Royal College of Art with an MA in Menswear in 2006. In addition to garment design, he also illustrates and sculpts. Throup was born in Argentina and lived in Spain before moving to Burnley, Lancashire. He gained a BA in fashion from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2004. Throup’s graduate collection from the RCA was entitled ‘When football hooligans become Hindu Gods’ which had a strong narrative thread running through it and a diverse selection of influences from street sportswear to Hindu symbolism. He won the International Talent Support #5 award in 2006 for graduate collection of the year and sat on the judging panel for ITS#6. Since graduating, Throup has opted to pursue his own projects: he has collaborated with Evisu, Fake London and appeared in i-D and Arena Homme+ magazines. For Autumn/Winter 2008 Throup collaborated with Stone Island for their first on-schedule presentation at Milan Menswear Week. He has exhibited his garments, sculptures and drawings at the Library, London. He also works as a consultant and is producing his first graphic novel.
