>Henry Holland

Fashion Designer, Stylist, Writer

Henry Holland is a designer, stylist and writer. Born in Manchester, he studied journalism at the London College of Printing. An idea for a T-shirt which he made for his friend Gareth Pugh emblazoned with the rhyming couplet ‘UHU Gareth Pugh’ soon became a series. With help from graphic designer Chris Williams, the House of Holland was born. The designs referenced slogan tees of the eighties and featured rhymes about fashion figures such as Giles Deacon and Naomi Campbell. The ‘fashion groupie ‘ S/S 07 collection was followed by ‘Pleb or celeb?’ in A/W 07. These T-shirts featured more slogans, but this time with reference to pop culture celebrities such as Lindsay Lohan. The House of Holland is backed by the Fashion East initiative and shows on their catwalk at London Fashion week. Holland’s work has gained a great deal of press coverage worldwide and is modelled by his childhood friend, Agyness Deyn. Along with Deyn and Pugh, Holland is recognised as being a proponent of the London fashion new wave. His designs are stocked in stores including Barney’s and Colette. Holland has collaborated with Kickers footwear and designed bags to commemorate the new Eurostar terminus and for Mulberry’s London fashion week window, which he also styled with his own designs.
