Is it day five? Maybe you know better than me. Unfortunately, the combination of sleep deprivation, mild malnourishment and the packed London schedule (and they say we don't need five days?!) have resulted in a mild case of strep throat, thus my conspicuous blog absence this morning. But take heart! Our Collections project is being updated as I type with all the latest from the schedule - the above is a snap papped just before I collared new name Mary Katrantzou into a deep and meaningful about her collection this morning. Six shows down, one to go. Wish me luck!

A number of designers this season have chosen to eschew conventional catwalk show presentations, and are instead turning their attention to the medium of film. Continuing out commitment to pioneering 'moving fashion' we will be showcasing a selection of films created by London based designers, over the couple of days. First up is print designer David David who was this season awarded New Gen sponsorship allowing him to display his Autumn/Winter 2009 designs at the London Fashion Week Exhibition space. His film short created in collaboration with Toyin is available to view in our The Collections project alongside a review and a short Q&A.

Ever rushed home from a family holiday to tape the coverage of the haute couture collections? I did in 1999 for Galliano's famous, infamous and downright fabulous Autmn/Winter collection for Dior. Think Matrix meets bloodsports crossed with the Raj and you get an inkling. Here is Stephen Jones' ferrociously fantastic millinery from the self-same show. I'm in fashion trainspotting heaven!
Long-term collaborator Giles Deacon is one of many guests eager to congratulate the milliner. Deacon headed straight to the V&A after his own show which this season incorporated Jones' leather and suede flyer saucer hats.

Luckily it was somewhat easier to pin down our own Charlotte and Nick Knight (for now...)

I ran over to nab Stephen during a quiet moment: but frankly, tonight there will never be a quiet moment. Here he is captured at work, being interviewed by Jade Parfitt for vogue.tv

There is no 'official' dress code tonight, but really everyone realises millinery is obligotry. The V&A set the standard high, as beautifully illustrated here by Melanie and Laura.

Or rather, let me eat cake! We're here at the set-up for the gala opening of Stephen Jones' V&A exhibition 'Hats: An Anthology', soon to be showcased in our own homage, Hat's Off, documenting just about everything behind the scenes of this ball-busting extravaganza of a show. I'll be blogging live from the night, so stay tuned for more - to when your appetite, check out Mr Jones' delicious work from today's Giles show in our Collections project. Bon Appetit!

Better late than never! A hectic morning means I literally had no chance to even think, but rest assured, the results of a morning's slog (and venue-to-venue jog) will soon be in our Collections project!

Well, more ten twenty sixes, but that's not quite so snappy. Luella is the first show of the day, held in Covent Gardens' flower cellars and due to begin any moment...

Barbie looms large at Danielle Scutt's show - both as sponsor and here, in a lifesize (and rather creepy) mannequin at the show's entrance.

A rather less sociable start (especially on the Sabbath), but there's nothing like hot fresh talent to get you out of bed in the morning. Today, it's the turns of Richard Nicoll, Christopher Kane, Danielle Scutt and, first up, Todd Lynn. Log into our Collections project to see all the first-hand reports and Chris Moore's sterling catwalk coverage.

They say there's no place like home, but my home for this week (or good enough) is the Topshop show space, providing a venue for the likes of Christopher Kane, Marios Schwab and tonight Peter Jensen and Ann-Sofie Back. Variety may be the proverbial spice of life, but during fashion week it's nice to know where you're going. Especially when your brain is on autopilot...

It's a mercifully gentle afternoon start to SHOWstudio's first day of in-depth coverage for Autumn/Winter 2009 - and this season we're doing things a little differently. Our Collections project will contain all the catwalk reports, alongside show videos and Chris Moore's accomplished catwalk photography, while I will update the blog with all the goings-on from the taffeta-lined trenches of the fash pack. Check back for more here - and there - later in the day!

...So I'll eat my words! After a minor scuffle with the British Fashion Council security, I was swept into the Saint Martins M.A. with minimal fuss courtesy of much beloved M.A. graduate (and our own star of Unravelled!) Louise Goldin.Taking time out from preparations for her own collection on Monday, Goldin came along to support her 'favourite lady', M.A. head and fashion legend Professor Louise Wilson and her latest clutch of star pupils.

The tents, the tantrums, the talons! London Fashion Week is back once again, and of course SHOWstudio are logging and blogging the action every step of the way! This seasons it's off to a gentle start (for SHOWstudio at least) with just one show on our inaugural day. Then again, when that show is the renowned taste-maker of the Central Saint Martins' M.A. the crush - and rush - to get in is still going to be fierce!
