Christmas is coming early!
Regardless of the opinions of Britain's mass retailers (who have been foisting advent calendars on us since about June), for me Christmas begins at the start of December - with a healthy embargo on any mention beforehand. Then again, some things are just too fabulous to keep under your hat - such as the forthcoming Yuletide spectacular at Claridge's, created by none other than Dior's head honcho John Galliano. As Galliano's sketch testifies, this will be a typical Galliano jaunt into fantasy: no bauble-bedecked Douglas fir this! Instead, Galliano has envisaged a 'Frozen Tropical Christma Tree' - an all-out fantasia decked with orchids, ivy and a good dose of fauna with that flora. The final results, gnarled roots and all, will be incongruously placed in the Mayfair hotel's foyer from 1 December.
Not to be left out, we at SHOWstudio.com have enlisted the phenomenal talents of London accessories wizard Fred Butler to adorn our own tree, slated for installation and unveiling in the SHOWstudio SHOP at Bruton Place on 28 November. Stay tuned for more news soon!
