FUTURE TENSE: Fashion's Future is Now!
From Galliano’s Incroyables in the eighties, to McQueen’s ‘bumsters’ in the nineties, to Pugh’s glow-in-the-dark greatcoat in the noughties, new fashion talent always puts on one hell of a show. It seems fitting, therefore, that our new film season Future Tense embraces and celebrates the creative visions of the latest generation of twenty-first century fashion designers.
In collaboration with Hywel Davies', whose forthcoming book 100 New Fashion Designers for Laurence King formed the starting point for our list, we’ve approached a wide variety of fashion stars to create films of between 30 seconds and three minutes, expressing their individual design vision – of which the above edited selection is just a sneak preview.
Participating designers run the gamut from established new international labels to young talents just starting to make their mark on the fashion world – amongst those committing their vision to film are Pierre Hardy, Rodarte, Peter Jensen, Lutz, Todd Lynn and Henrik Vibskov. New films will air daily from next Monday through until 18 September this year – appropriately enough the penultimate day of London Fashion Week, long-established incubator of talent poised to set the world alight.
This looks like a fantastic project.I can't wait to see what Todd Lynn does, I thought he was great on Fashion Djs.Also Rodarte are really interesting at the moment.
