WONDERLAND: Design For Life

Me working on the multi pattern jacket with Stephany. Trying to balance the different weights of cloth and patterns. We have been experimenting with blowing up sections of the jackets with helium to see if we can suspend any elements to float within the different parts of the jacket. Strange to be back in the process of design, when the last two years has been all about trying to get this to happen; endless meetings, fund raising and running between Sheffield and Ulster University and here at London College of Fashion.

From this film, it looks as if the fabric is quite tough - is this the case? Does it crease? Can you compare it's behaviour as a fabric to anything you've come across before?

We are using all sorts of densities, so some are very fine and others quite robust, all however, no matter how thick, are vulnerable to atmosphere and water. Creases are very hard to get out and in terms of behavior, it's probably the last fabric on earth I'd want to use from a design perspective, but is perfect as a metaphor for our disappearing world.
