Couriers have been in and out with bags throughout the day and the clothing rail is starting to fill up. So far packages from Karla Otto suggest the probability of Hussein Chalayan (or is it Viktor & Rolf Monsieur?) and Westwood check vies for attention against Paul Smith felted wool.... [more]

Simon has just been in with the photographer Ben Dunbar-Brunton to go through how the lighting will look for the portraits project and to have a look at his mood board to agree upon the treatment. They looked at how it will look captured purely by a webcam and also... [more]

The graphic designer Frauke Stegmann sent me these pictures of the new CD covers she's been working on (she's keeping us up-to-date since she's decamped from London to South Africa 'to think about wildlife'). My eyesight's not quite strong enough to discern the band, but who cares with wrappers like... [more]

The studio is in a bit of a meltdown as we gear up towards a) leaving for the Easter Break and b) returning to get the new site rebuild up for the end of next week. Paul Bruty, Dorian and Ross have moved their desks town to the 'cove' end... [more]

Liberty has called to say she can fit in a meeting to discuss the May live dress-up project on 5 April at SHOWstudio before she returns to LA.
Val Garland will also be coming in that day to decorate the Pinpressions of Erin that were taken last night.

Shooting has now ceased; both Martin and Erin have now left the studio. They made four ‘pinpressions’ impressions of Erin’s face, which are now being set in resin by Nick’s first assistant Jez, ready to be taken to Val for decoration. Martin’s photographs from the shoot will be printed in... [more]

There are a lot of mysterious pre-production meetings between art directors, menswear stylists, magazine moguls and photographers going on at the moment and this is another.

Images are now coming in from Simon to begin his image diary. This will document general preparations for the project; especially the process of researching the A/W ‘05 menswear collections and calling in the clothes for each day of the April webcast. Simon has rebuffed the SHOWstudio Picture Phone because... [more]

Managed to grab Simon while he's in to get a quote for the 'mood board' of book images he brought in on 23 February for the pre-production meeting:
'These pictures are less to do with styling than the approach and how I'll set them up. I started by looking through portraits... [more]

'Modelcards' has its roots in a project I worked on a project in
Fabrica (http://www.fabrica.it) for an exhibition at the museum of the
moving image in new York (http://www.motmi.com) called DARE
(http://www.fabrica.it/dare). I created two pieces for this
exhibition, GRID and FACE. FACE allowed visitors to grab a... [more]

We are about to start the virtual casting for Simon Foxton’s project and are just awaiting him coming in to see the models. As Dorian said, we weren’t able to show yesterday’s Model Cards owing to a technical blip, but those will be uploaded manually at the end of the... [more]

Last night we were subjected to a small power outage, which rather affected our development server and router. I had been applying some software updates at the time and the power out caused a disk error resulting in the corruption of some of the core system libraries. Unfortunately time has... [more]

Melisa and Regina from the industrial design team at David Chipperfield
Architects came in to measure up for the new workdesk David is to design for us.
I took them through the concept, which was initially inspired by the 'Join'
desk system by french designers Ronan and Erwin Bouroullec, which I saw... [more]

Jonathan Kaye is currently discussing a number of editorial projects with Nick, so he is a natural choice to work on the womenswear for Liberty’s project. An issue likely to arise is that of her height: one of the strongest elements running throughout the A/W ’05 collections was a demure... [more]

Simon's been in with a huge box of paper that details his twenty-five year career in tear sheets. The task is now to get them all scanned to create a sort of historical resource. As the interesting as the ones he chose were the ones he wouldn't let us include!
