TRANSMISSIONS: The Landsc Apes

In keeping with Penny's extensive Parisian reporting this week Transmissions brings you some French artists -one film-maker one musician- who collaborated to bring together a live soundtrack to an evocative film about youthful disturbances. Presented in the audotoriam of the top floor of Guy's Hospital in London late last year Cyprian Gaillard and AKA Koudlam enlivened each of their practices with the conjunction. A production of nearby Laura Bartlett Gallery represented artist Gaillard is becoming known for his short films of controlled explosions. This piece gives the sense of a controlled and aestheticised mob scene in the Parisian suburbs.

I saw a great photograph which I am pretty sure was by the same artist of lilac smoke driffting up a wooded hillside.Really lovely and haunting.Reminded me of some war photography from the Bosnian conflict where the imagery was beautiful although it portrayed horrific events.
I (worryingly) have found myself seeing intense beauty in moments of great sadness.

That's mended. Or at least from my end - let me know if it plays okay now.

That is an amazing and scary film! Beautiful sound.
Odd mixture of Sci-fi and ancient battles with the nilism of the 1980s as well.
Thanks Christabel for getting this one to us.
Btw I really like what you are doing with Transmissions, more please!
Thanks,
Harley
